Marshfield applies for wind turbine
Marshfield Ice Cream has applied to South Gloucester District Council for planning permission to develop a single wind turbine at Oldfield Farm. The proposed turbine will enable us to generate the equivalent of all the electricity the dairy uses each year from renewable sources. It also reflects our desire to power the diary in a cleaner, greener and more efficient way.
The use of electricity and diesel at the farm currently releases 348 tonnes of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere each year. The wind turbine would account for a staggering 340 tonnes of this, reducing Marshfield’s emissions by 98%.
In advance of submitting the planning application, Marshfield Farm is making best endeavours to consult with the local community.
During August 2010, a one-day wind turbine exhibition will held. Prior to this, a leaflet will be widely circulated via local outlets. The leaflet will be distributed to the majority of households in Marshfield, Pennsylvania and Cold Ashton. A response Form will be available at the open day, and also on the South Glos web site, and responses will be available afterwards. We want to hear all views.
