Can we visit the farm to buy direct?
Yes, we have recently converted the original ice creamery into a very small shop. You can buy all our ice cream and sorbets flavour’s in all the sizes available. The shop is only open at weekends from Easter till the end of September. Although we love having visitors we only have a small farm track and it is needed by lots of agricultural vehicles and delivery lorries during the week. You can buy our ice cream in many local outlets (link required here for the map) or during the week by prior appointment from the farm.– please contact us to 01225 891 221 to place your order.
What is unique about Marshfield Farm Ice cream?
Well, our ice cream really is “made on the farm”, unlike some other 'farm-produced’ ice creams. The map you see on the home page is where we actually live and work. Our dairy farm is farmed organically, and consequently the milk that goes into Marshfield Ice cream is organic – that's 60% of the product. We use no artificial colourings or preservatives and we try to source as many of our ingredients locally. We put no cheap 'fillers' in our product and we try to use the best quality fruit and chocolate we can lay our hands on! We also own our farm, which means we don't have layers of management or fancy factories. This advantage keeps our costs low, and we pass it on to our customers in the shape of great ice cream at affordable prices!
Where do you source your ingredients from?
As locally as we can! Did you know, for example, that the brownies in our “Choc Fudge Brownie” ice cream come from Marshfield Bakery, just one mile up the road! Our blackcurrants come from the Vale of Evesham and our double cream and clotted cream comes from local dairies. And of course, 60% of the product is our own milk from just across the farm yard!
Can you tell me the nutritional value of your ice cream?
You’ll find full nutritional info on some of our products on our flavours page. We’re working on analysing the nutritional value of more of our flavours, and will make this information available over the coming months.
Do you make any low fat or fat free products?
Yes we do. Our Skinny Vanilla is actually 95% fat free! All of our sorbets are also 100% fat free, which is good news if you like to indulge yourself without the guilt! It's also worth mentioning that our dairy range is typically only about 7% fat by volume. That’s less than half the fat of a bag of crisps!
Do you use colourings, preservatives or additives in your ice cream?
Not artificial ones. All of our ice cream and sorbets are made with ONLY natural colourings and preservatives.
Is your ice cream suitable for vegetarians, vegans and coeliacs?
The entire Marshfield ice cream and sorbet range is suitable for Vegetarians. Most of the Marshfield Ice Cream range is gluten free, apart from those listing wheat – please check the ingredient list of each flavour, where wheat will be highlighted if present. All of our sorbet range is suitable for coeliacs. Marshfield Ice Cream is not suitable for vegans, sorry.
Do you do a diabetic ice cream?
Yes. Our Vanilla ice cream, which won a Two-Star Gold in the 2008 Great Taste Awards, is suitable for people with most types of diabetes. Individuals should check carefully that it meets their own health requirements.
Does your ice cream contain nuts?
We have a nut-free policy in our factory. In practice, this means we do not make any ice creams that contain nuts. However we cannot guarantee our products are 100% nut-free, as some of the ingredients we add to our ice cream are produced in factories that handle nuts.
Does Marshfield Ice cream contain HPKO (Hydrogenated Palm Kernel Oil)?
No. None of our ice creams contain Hydrogenated Palm Kernel Oil.
Is there any alcohol in Marshfield Farm Ice cream?
Our Cointreau and Orange ice cream is 4% Cointreau at 60% proof. Our Champagne sorbet is 2.5% champagne at 15% proof. Our Rum and Raisin contains 2.9% rum at 60% proof.
What are Marshfield's Green credentials?
Our farm is Soil Association accredited and we adhere to their standards. We recently dug our own bore hole, so that the farm and milking parlour have their own supply of water. The milking parlour is literally a stone’s throw away from the ice creamery, meaning a lot of our travel is on foot. The majority of our ingredients come from within a 50-mile radius. We are also planning to erect our own wind turbine, so that we can generate all our own electricity. So as you can see, we continually strive to improve our carbon footprint.
Do you sell ice cream in fetes and fairs?
Yes. We are a small operation, but we do have some old-fashioned “stop me and buy ” trikes that we take to fetes and fairs. These tend to be fairly local to our farm, as we need to get back for milking! Alternatively you could hire one of our Hawking trolleys to use yourself to sell ice cream there is a hire charge but they come fully branded up with a Marshfield Farm umbrella, please contact us if you are interested. We also work with several reputable ice cream scoopers who are available for all sorts of event from music festivals to weddings they will supply a bike or trailer or even a fantastic VW ice cream van all filled with Marshfield Farm ice cream for your event. Please contact dawn@marshfield-icecream.co.uk for further details and availability.
At present, we do not supply any national supermarkets.
Do you produce any "dairy free" products?
Yes. All of our sorbets are dairy-free.
Why is your range not fully organic?
For several good reasons. Our farm itself is fully organic, having gained accreditation four years ago. This means all of our milk, which makes up 60% of our ice cream products, is organic. However, many of the natural flavours that we use are simply not available organically, and those that are available would make our finished ice cream rather expensive. There are also some simple ingredients we use – refined sugars, for example, which help us make a better and more scoopable ice cream – that are prohibited under the rules of organic food.
Do you do ice cream factory tours?
Yes, as you can see from our community pages we regularly do ice cream factory tours these at present are offered to groups like Brownies, WIs, Young Farmers, primary schools and secondary schools. Hopefully in the future we will be able to offer factory tours to the general public. Please contact dawn@marshfield-icecream.co.uk for further details and availability.
