Marshfield Ice Cream

A win for Windsor Castle Vanilla Dairy Ice Cream

We are very excited to announce that Windsor Castle Vanilla dairy ice cream won a Gold Star at the Great Taste Awards 2017.

Here at Marshfield Farm Ice Cream we have a great relationship with the Royal Collection. We make the Windsor Castle ice cream here on the farm using milk from the Royal Jersey Herd. The herd, who roam free in the Great Windsor Park, get milked using a modern milking system which allows the cows the freedom to chose when to be milked. Our driver then heads up the M4 to collect the milk from Windsor Castle and brings it back to our farm, ready for us to make it into ice cream using our secret Windsor Castle recipe.

The Royal Jersey herd was founded by Queen Victoria’s husband Prince Albert. The Jersey herd is the oldest of its kind in the country and some of the cattle can be traced back to the Prince Consort’s first cow, Pretty Polly, who arrived on the farm in 1871. The Royal Dairy was originally set up in 1858 to provide the castle household with milk, cream and butter, they now sell produce from the farm in the Windsor farm shop which was set up by Prince Phillip.

This award winning ice cream and their other flavours, Strawberry and Chocolate, can be purchased from the Windsor Farm shop. Throughout the summer months it is also served scooped onto cones in Windsor Castle and in Buckingham Palace while it is open to the public.
