What is BRCGS Start! Accreditation?

  • BRCGS – Brand Reputation through Compliance Global Standards
  • A food safety accreditation which is aimed for smaller companies where full BRCGS Food Safety accreditation is not viable.
  • Sets out requirements for the safe and legal manufacture of quality and authentic products such as ours, and foods or ingredients used by food service companies or manufactures e.g., our raw materials.

It is made up of 8 sections:

  • Senior Management Commitment
  • Food Safety & Quality Management System
  • Site Standards
  • Product Control
  • Process Control
  • Personnel
  • High Risk / High Care

Benefits of BRCGS Start! Accreditation

  • GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) benchmarked meaning that this is a worldwide recognised standard of manufacturing food products.
  • Greater credibility for us as a business.
  • We become part of the BRCGS Directory which is a worldwide search engine for BRCGS accredited companies.
  • We can use the BRCGS logo on our website and other marketing materials.
  • Opens a massive door for potential customers who require BRCGS accreditation as a minimum.
  • Ensures the company is exercising due diligence so we would have a line of defence if we were to be taken to court.
  • Promotes a preventative way of working as opposed to a reactive way of working, therefore, getting right first time and therefore, saving time and money.
  • Promotes best practice and continuous improvement so we are always making our processes safer and more efficient.
  • Keeps us all in a job – more efficient process, means less mistakes, means less complaints and less waste, which means more happier customers and less time wasted on correcting mistakes, therefore resulting in a happier workforce
