As a side-line to our standard Marshfield Farm ice cream, we decided to donate a proportion of our Scoop’s Ice Cream for Dogs profits to charity. In 2018 we asked our audience online for recommendations of animal charities and we were blown away by the response.
We would like to thank everyone who recommended charities close to their hearts. From an overwhelming response, we decided to work with Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary as our first animal charity supported by Scoop’s.
About Holly Hedge
Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary is a local independent charity that rescues and rehomes unwanted, abandoned and often mistreated cats and dogs. They receive no funding from the government or National Lottery and rely on the generosity and goodwill of their supporters to keep the kennel and cattery doors open. Holly Hedge costs approximately £616,000 every year to run – that’s over £1,687 each and every single day.
Holly Hedge rescue and rehome around 800 animals each year finding loving and responsible new homes for each and every one of them. At full capacity they can hold 40 dogs and over 100 cats, and while visiting Holly Hedge, the General Manager Sarah told us they’re lucky if they aren’t full.
Holly Hedge rely on the generosity of volunteers. There are lots of ways to get involved: from walking the dogs to ‘lock up shifts’, providing short/long term foster care for animals or even becoming a cat cuddler, volunteering is an excellent way of getting active in the local community.

How to Donate
We have been supporting Holly Hedge with Scoop’s sales at fundraising events and we even managed to donate 50 over-flowing shoe boxes packed with animal supplies (as well as boxes full of food cans, dog harnesses and cat beds!) as an official drop-off point on the Holly Hedge Christmas Shoe Box appeal. We are very excited to continue supporting Holly Hedge this year.
