We Just Launched a Vegan Plant-Based Chocolate Ice Cream made with oat milk – Here’s the Story Behind It!

July 16, 2025

We’ve gone Rogue with our new flavour!

Hello from the team at Marshfield Farm Ice Cream, we’d love to introduce our new flavour: Plant-Based Chocolate.

This one’s all about the chocolate – rich, dark, and truly indulgent; but there’s something a bit different about this scoop! It’s made with Rogue Oat fresh oat milk, also made right here on the farm, giving it that beautifully creamy texture without a drop of dairy. It’s entirely vegan-friendly, and if we’re honest, it’s ‘oatally’ delicious.

But what makes this even more special?

Rogue Oat is also produced right here on our farm! Rogue Oat is a fresh-farm oat drink created by Joe and Flo (who grew up on Marshfield Farm)! Flo represents the third generation of the Hawking family to work on the farm and together with her husband wanted to push the boundaries of dairy farming.

They had a Rogue idea to use a crop already grown in our fields and produce an oat drink, Rogue Oat; naming it after a farming term for an oat growing in an unexpected place.

We wanted to embrace the incredible new era in our farm’s story and create a new flavour which uses oats as an alternative to our existing vegan ice cream base. After months of testing and tweaking ice creams, we finally nailed it: an ice cream which is smooth, chocolatey and feels creamy without the dairy.

By making this change and using British grown oats, we’re reducing the carbon footprint and food miles of our plant-based ice cream ingredients. We’re also chuffed that we can still use the ‘milked’ oats to feed to our cows, meaning it’s a closed-loop ingredient!

We know you’re going to love this new flavour and it’s now available as 1 litre on our shop and delivered direct to your door, BUY IT HERE
